The Cedar Point Environmental Center has 88 acres with marked hiking trails through pine flatwoods, oak scrub, salt flats and the mangroves of Lemon Bay. American Bald Eagles and Gopher Tortoises are found here. Lemon Bay Park, located north of Dearborn Street in Olde Englewood, has a butterfly garden, nature trails and picnic sites.
Fishing along Lemon Bay and the Charlotte Harbor Estuary, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and boating opportunities are abundant. Several professional golf courses and tennis courts are also found in the Cape Haze area. These are just a few of the exciting and interesting sites to see in the Cape Haze vicinity. In addition, the cities of Sarasota and Tampa are an easy drive to the north, and Port Charlotte, Fort Myers and Naples are to the south. |
